some good news. my health insurance card arrived in the mail yesterday. i picked my primary doctor and he is less than a mile from my house. my insurance seems pretty decent...

$20 for doctors visit
$20 for specialist visit
$50 for ER visit
$50 for urgent care visit
$10/20/30 rx

and on top of that, i have no referral required to see specialists. it's pretty awesome.

the only thing is, my deductible is $200. which i'm not sure what that really means. does that mean i pay out-of-pocket up to $200? if so, who has that kind of money up front? not me, anyway. and i'm sure my first dr.s visit and obgyn is going to cost me near $200. *sigh*

anyways, i'm on a serious diet. i've joined this website called sparkpeople.com, which absolutely is amazing considering it's free. it has a daily meal tracker that tells you exactly how many carlories/fats/etc. you're consuming with each thing you eat.

for instance, for breakfast yesterday, i was mortified to find out that the onion bagel and cream cheese + iced coffee (with cream) i consumed was HALF of the calories recommended FOR THE WHOLE DAY. i'm supposed to consume around 1250-1600 calories a day to reach my goal weight by 2007. so knowing that my little breakfast was upwards to 500 calories, i wanted to cry! then i totally tipped the scales when i input what i had for lunch - a chicken burrito boll from chipotle - and was about 400 calories over my limit for the day. of course, i still had dinner later on, but i decided to make a serious change after seeing how much bad crap i was eating. today, for breakfast, i had a banana and a bottle of water. 160 calories. yay! and i want to have something good for lunch. i brought a can of chicken noodle soup, which has 110 calories per serving (2 servings in a can), so 220 calories. that still leaves me with room for dinner. i kind of like writing down of what i eat. it works for me. and keeps me in check.

so that's about it. one thing i'm pretty stoked about is that i get discounts on weight watchers with my health insurance. when i get things squared away, i'm going to be all over that opportunity.

** ps: i also want to mention how dissapointed i am with livejournal communities pertaining to dieting. i love to join communities. little did i know that if you search for communities using the word "diet," you will surely come to find about 100-200 communities about pro-ana (pro-anorexia) and pro-ed (pro eating disorder) and their all about 14 years old and major attention whores. **
